La persecuzione degli omosessuali nella Germania nazista è stata una delle prime persecuzioni ad essere messa in atto dal Nazismo; nel tempo di pochi mesi dalla salita al potere, la vita gay tedesca, fervente soprattutto a Berlino, è stata drasticamente interrotta e con questa la crescita del primo movimento omosessuale della storia. Subito sono cominciati 
la deportazione e gli esperimenti medici. Questi ultimi furono particolarmente violenti, perché perpetrati allo scopo di comprendere le ragioni della “deviazione sessuale” e di trovarne una “cura”.


L’Omocausto, cioè lo sterminio degli omosessuali, è stato studiato molto tardi e molto meno di altre deportazioni. 
Le cause sono da cercare non solo nelle difficoltà personali di chi avrebbe dovuto rivelare il proprio orientamento sessuale, ma anche nel riconoscimento dell’omosessualità come un crimine. Va ricordato che chi veniva internato in un campo di concentramento per omosessualità, ne usciva per essere incarcerato per il crimine di sodomia.


Il titolo dello spettacolo nasce dalla riflessione su come, negli anni della deportazione, l’umanità sia stata spenta e su come, successivamente, sia stata spenta e allontanata la memoria della deportazione degli omosessuali. 
Il percorso artistico costruito con BLACKOUT intende riportare luce in quei luoghi della storia che 
sono rimasti in ombra fino ai nostri anni.

In memory of those who died, and have been persecuted because of their sexual orientation and gender identity.
Today, we also remember how many LGBTQI people live in fear of persecution in many countries.
On this occasion, Roberta Orlando will support the local LGBTQI community, taking part in  BLACKOUT.
